Vista Engineering Ltd, the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of builders metalwork, has announced the release of its 200mm Safety Plain End Formed Wall Tie (SPF-200), specifically designed for use over movement joints. This tie complements the existing Safety Plain End Tie (SPE) range.
A movement joint, also known as an expansion joint or control joint, is a flexible gap in a building material such as concrete or masonry that allows for expansion and contraction. The Vista SPF-200 wall tie is perfect for use over movement joints in a run of brickwork or blockwork where a safety embedment detail is required.
It’s made from grade 304 stainless steel, which makes it non-combustible in accordance with national building regulations and offers excellent durability with a service life of at least 60 years.
The SPF-200 wall tie has undergone thorough testing to ensure compliance with industry standards. The tie has been tested in shear to BS EN 846-7:2012, demonstrating a shear load capacity of 2230N, which ensures strength and security for construction projects.
One of the key features of the new tie is its lightweight design and reduced packaging, making it easy to handle. It works in conjunction with debonding sleeves that allow for movement of the tie within the sleeve, facilitating the horizontal expansion and contraction of the structure.
