ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT POLICY

STATEMENT OF INTENT

The Company has not identified any significant environmental impacts as a result of providing the service. However, NMBS recognises its responsibility to protect the environment, and will conduct its business activities in such a manner as to control and minimise our environmental impact. To meet this commitment, the Company will adhere to the following environmental management principles:-

  • Taking account of environmental issues as part of the commercial decision making process
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and regulations
  • Reducing or eliminating waste and pollution as a matter of course
  • Continually improving staff awareness and operating methods to reduce waste wherever practicable

These principles will be extended to cover the following environmental aspects:

  • Reduction of paper usage
  • Increasing electronic communications
  • Recycling of plastics, paper, card, and printing consumables where practicable
  • Correct & legal methods of recycling WEEE products
  • Emergency and contingency planning
  • Legal obligations

This list is not exhaustive and may be modified as other aspects are identified in the course of the company’s activities.

The Company will minimise the environmental impact of the above aspects by:

  • Establishing an environmental management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and any relevant statutory requirement
  • Setting and reviewing environmental objectives at Board level
  • Ensuring that each employee, through training, support, feedback and regular appraisal is aware of, and fulfils, their environmental responsibilities
  • Continually improving overall environmental performance through regular facilities assessment, performance analysis and management review
  • Communicating environmental performance to interested parties via management meetings, the Company website, and the Intranet

The accountability and reporting structure for this Environmental Policy is defined in the Operations Manual, and compliance is mandatory for all employees.
