SetcreteTM Launches Fast-Track Primer DPM

Manufacturer of high-performance floor preparation products for professional builders Setcrete^TM has launched a new fast-track, two-in-one Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and primer, dramatically cutting the time required to wait before installing floorcoverings over newly poured screeds.

The one-component, ready-to-use product is simply applied to sound, smooth and clean sand/cement screed or concrete surfaces in two coats with a roller to create a barrier against residual construction moisture where relative humidity levels are up to 95%.

Each coat requires 15-30 minutes drying time, meaning a barrier against residual construction moisture can be created in less than an hour, eliminating the need to wait for subfloors to dry sufficiently to install floorcoverings without risking floor failure.

Furthermore, the product primes the respective surface, making it ready for the receipt of other subfloor preparation products and allowing installations to proceed immediately once this has cured.

Commenting on the launch of the fast-track primer DPM, Setcrete^TM brand manager Peter Wilson said:

“You might have to wait months for a newly installed concrete or sand/cement screed to dry naturally. However, in situations where a quick solution is required, Setcrete^TM Fast-Track Primer DPM can be deployed to suppress excess subfloor moisture. In such instances, there’s no need to prime, saving further time.

“We recommend the application of a DPM where subfloor relative humidity levels exceed 75% (or 65% where wood floorcoverings will be installed) and there is the potential for subfloor moisture to attack floorcoverings and adhesives, potentially resulting in complete floor failure.”

Setcrete^TM Fast-Track Primer DPM is pigmented yellow to allow the user to gauge application uniformity.

It is supplied in 5 litre bottles, which will cover an area of approximately 20m².
