New directors to drive further growth for Bence Group

Two senior appointments for NMBS member

NMBS member, the Bence Group has taken on two new directors.

Simon Cunningham joins the Cotswold based independent builder’s merchant as contracts director whilst Ian Broad takes up the position of sales director.

Simon was formerly group sales director at MAP Contracts in Kent. In his new position at the Bence Group, he will be responsible for driving lightside contract business focusing in particular on bathrooms, underfloor heating and kitchens.

Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “Joining the Bence Group has enabled me to become a part of a forward thinking business with a bold strategy for future growth.

“I’m looking forward to using my skills and expertise to help the business build on its current achievements by driving its performance in a number of key product segments.”

Ian joins the Bence Group meanwhile having worked for Tarmac for the last 28 years, most recently holding the position of key accounts manager. Due to his previous roles, he is already familiar with the Bence Group and its customer demographic.

He will oversee the Bence Group’s sales function, leading and developing both internal and external teams

Commenting on his appointment, Ian said: “After many enjoyable years working for Tarmac Building Products, joining the Bence Group will offer me new challenges and new opportunities. It will also enable me to apply some of the knowledge I've gained working for a supplier to the merchanting sector to enhance the Group's already highly professional and customer-focused operations."

Paul Bence, managing director at the Bence Group, added: “After an extensive search for the right people to build on our success in light and heavyside sales, we’re delighted to welcome Simon and Ian to our senior management team.

“Their respective experience, commercial acumen and understanding of industry will add real value to the business and help us realise ambitious plans for future growth.”
