Free documents to help merchants upsell and stock timber
At TDUK we’re continuing to expand our range of resources for merchants and the wider timber supply chain, with a clear focus on providing accessible, practical information on the benefits of timber and how it can be used in modern construction projects.
A key part of this is the development of a comprehensive online resource hub of technical advice and design guidance. Our upgraded Wood Species Library now features downloadable PDFs on 139 different timber species, including uses, characteristics, appearance, durability and density.
TDUK’s Wood Products Database is also free to browse, giving users a detailed overview of the most widely used timber products across the built environment. Its searchable format allows users to explore categories such as construction, interiors and exteriors, packaging and pallets, fuel and timber ancillaries. Each section includes information on dimensions, standards and certifications, appearance grading, treatments, availability and species, presented in a way that is easy to navigate and apply in practice.
For merchants looking to strengthen their timber proposition, the Merchant Guide to Selling Timber provides a practical overview of timber’s advantages as a construction material, alongside in-depth guidance on product ranges and opportunities to add value through informed specification.
Alongside this sits Wood Campus, TDUK’s comprehensive online learning platform, which supports skills development across the sector with a wide range of free courses covering everything from core timber knowledge through to more detailed technical topics.
TDUK also works closely with the Wood Protection Association and Timber Decking & Cladding Association to produce industry guidance such as the Timber Decking and Timber Cladding Handbooks, as well as detailed information on Use Classes and timber treatments.
These resources are all seeing strong engagement, with 146,000 active website users, 286,000 newsletter opens and more than 50,000 downloads across the platform. Also available is the ‘Find Your Timber Partner’ directory, which connects suppliers, designers, merchants and builders across the UK.
