Following multiple requests from supplier and merchant members, NMBS has relaunched its printed version of the Buyers Guide.
The bi-annual book provides critical building product information and enjoys pride of place on builders’ merchant counters across the country.
However, efforts continue to find a more environmental solution, in line with NMBS’s ESG commitments.
Chris Hayward, CEO at NMBS, explains:
“As every industry leader is aware, a business’s carbon footprint is a major part of its environmental, social and governance issues. We take this issue very seriously and we want to get real value from integrating ESG into all parts of our business, making sure it is never just a tick-box activity.
“We hope that by showcasing what can be done through conscious printing, other businesses in the merchanting sector and beyond will also assess their processes and make more sustainable choices. Collectively, all these small changes will add up to something much bigger and will help us nudge our industry a bit closer to our net zero targets. As the saying goes, every bit helps.”
NMBS is working with creative production agency Ruddocks, which ensures all its printing is done sustainably. Printing is commonly thought of as a non-environmentally friendly process, but NMBS is continuing its 12-year relationship with Ruddocks to make sure its Buyers Guide does not fall into this stereotype.
According to the European Paper Recycling Council’s Monitoring Report for 2022, paper fibres are re-used an average of 3.5 times. NMBS’s Buyers Guide is printed on FSC® 100% recycled paper, so is less of a drain on natural resources. Ruddocks has been ISO 14001 and FSC® certified for over 15 years, so is regularly audited for environmental and ethical practices.
For digital devotees, the NMBS Buyers Guide can still be accessed online via OnePlace, allowing easy access to the fully updated version 24/7. Independent merchants can use it to find updated supplier and product information at their fingertips, as well as new deals. The digital version will also still allow suppliers to provide as-it-happens updates to product lines and pricing, change company information and add deals at the click of a button.
Printed copies of the Buyers Guide are available to all NMBS Merchant Members and if you would like to be added to the mailing list please visit www.nmbs.co.uk/buyersguide
