Leading tool firm Draper Tools has just received its annual Wrap Report from solar intelligence and installation company Absolar, which reveals how the 106 year old, family-run business has generated 517,373 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean, renewable energy across the year.
According to Absolar, the amount of energy generated by Draper’s solar installation this year is enough to make 11 million cups of tea! More importantly, it has prevented over 100 tonnes of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere in 2025 and will continue to do so.
Speaking about the news, Matt Sheen, CEO at Draper Tools said: “The solar installation at our new environmentally efficient warehouse represented a major investment for us and certainly required meticulous planning and execution from the Absolar team. However, getting our first annual Wrap Report from them has definitively proven just how worthwhile and strategically important that decision was.
“Seeing our system generating over half a million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in its first year is incredible. Avoiding more than 100 tonnes of CO2 just shows how it’s making a real difference.”
Draper’s newly completed warehouse features over 900 solar panels, carefully placed around 700 skylights. Absolar handled the full end to end delivery, from initial feasibility and remote scanning to installation and commissioning, with Draper’s Wrap Report showing just how detailed its data is. It was able to specifically hone in on its highest producing week (w/c 7 July) and even its highest daily output of 3,635 kWh (18 June). In total, 3,781 operational hours were logged since the system was installed a year ago.
Phil Wu, co founder of Absolar, commented: “Solar is one of the most effective ways to control energy costs, reduce carbon emissions and strengthen compliance.
“Our Solar Wrap Reports offer precise, empirical data that removes uncertainty and empowers organisation to plan with confidence. By combining advanced modelling with full installation and ongoing optimisation, we provide a complete solution for building resilient, low carbon estates.”
Wu concludes: “The challenges of decarbonisation are significant, particularly for energy intensive industries. Absolar’s mission is to equip organisations with the tools and insight needed to make measurable progress, helping them to strengthen compliance, reduce costs and create a more sustainable future.”
Looking to the future Draper, which is certified under the ISO 14001 environmental management standard, is set to generate even more clean energy, having recently commissioned Absolar for another solar installation on a second building at its head office site.
