Simon Raywood, Head of Health & Safety at MKM Building Supplies, has been appointed as Chair of the BMF Health, Safety & Wellbeing Working Group.
Simon has been a member of the working group, which plays an important role in providing advice and guidance to help protect the well-being and lives of people working in member companies, since 2018.
Simon is passionate about sending people home safe at the end of the working day. He holds a BSc Degree in Safety & Environmental Management and has a breadth of experience that makes him well-qualified for the role. Starting his career as a forklift truck driver and instructor, Simon moved into health and safety in 1998, working with Howdens Joinery, Arco, Smith & Nephew, and in his own consultancy business for five years, before joining MKM.
Congratulating Simon on his appointment, BMF CEO, John Newcomb said:
“This is an important working group for the BMF, whose output to date includes Safety Guides on Materials Storage & Handling, Workplace Transport, and Load Security, as well as specialist guides relating to Liquid Gas, Sawmills, and Woodworking Machinery.
“Simon has already made an outstanding contribution as a member of the group for the past seven years and has the knowledge, experience, and understanding that will make him an excellent Chair. I would also like to thank the outgoing Chair, Richard Bryne, who is stepping down from the role as he leaves the industry, for helping us set new standards supporting members in this vital area.”
