100 independent merchants and suppliers attended the NMBS Golf Day this year, held at the famous Woburn Golf and Country Club in Buckinghamshire.
The event took place on the Dukes Course, which straddles the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire border. Woburn Golf and Country Club holds the distinction of being the first 54-hole venue to have all three of its courses (the Duke’s, Duchess, and Marquess) featured in Golf Monthly magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the UK and Ireland.
The day followed a shotgun start format, ensuring all players teed off and completed the course around the same time.
Guests came from every part of the country, drawn from NMBS’s 1,230-strong merchants and 450 suppliers. The event is a highlight of NMBS’s programme of networking events that are designed to encourage informal business discussion and strengthen working relationships between independent merchants and suppliers.
One of the standout moments from the day was the spirited Beat-the-Pro contest held on Hole 12. Players were invited to donate £20 to charity for the chance to outdrive the professional and land their ball closest to the pin. In total, twelve players rose to the challenge and managed to beat-the-pro, helping us raise over £1,500 for charity.
Play was followed by a three-course meal and drinks, including the presentation of prizes from the day, including:
