Roughneck launches axes with timeless appealPosted on 08 Dec 2017
Traditional aesthetics meet modern innovation
Olympia Tools, distributor of the Roughneck brand of hand tools and workwear, has launched a new product range which combines the best of old and new.
The business, which is committed to meeting the needs of tool users involved in construction, forestry, agriculture, landscaping and many other sectors, has recently introduced a new selection of ‘vintage’ axes.
The Roughneck Vintage Axes feature handles made from genuine US hickory which is grown in carefully managed, 100% FSC certified forests.
This use of wood gives the tools a timeless and attractive appearance which is further enhanced by the handles being coated with a dark lacquer.
The impressive aesthetics of the new Roughneck Vintage Axes are matched by equally impressive levels of durability and performance.
The hickory handles have been smoked treated to ensure moisture resistance whilst the handles are attached to the axe heads with a steel wood wedge for an ultra-secure fix.
The heads themselves are made from high quality alloy steel, heat treated and tempered for greater longevity.
In addition, the heads are fully polished with a clear lacquer for anti-rust protection and are supplied with pre-sharpened cutting edges.
Reflecting the quality of the new Roughneck Vintage Axes, all the tools within the range are certified to DIN 7294 GS Standard.
Six different tools make up the range - two axes with head weights of 1.25kg and 1.6kg; three hatchets with head weights of 0.6kg, 0.8kg and 1kg; and a splitting maul with a head weight of 2kg.
All the new axes are supplied on eye-catching hang cards complete with a leaflet detailing product specification as well as other items within the range for maximum impact at the point of sale and opportunities to cross or upsell.
They are also packaged with a canvass sheet to help protect the tools when not in use.
Commenting on the launch of the new Roughneck Vintage Axes, Vahe Der Kureghian, purchasing and marketing director at Olympia Tools, said: “The introduction of the new Roughneck Vintage Axes adds to our existing and extensive choices of axes which all currently feature fibre glass or hollow nylon handles.
“We decided to introduce our first ever wooden handled axes to meet the needs of those customers looking for tools with a more traditional and authentic appearance but without compromising on modern levels of performance or the use of modern materials.”
