ForgeFix ScrewsArt™ fundraising goes intergalacticPosted on 13 Oct 2017
Business sets sights on further CRASH donation
Leading distributor of fixings, fasteners, power tool accessories and hardware, ForgeFix looks set to repeat its success in using an innovative form of art to raise money for charity.
Earlier this year, the business donated a 1.2m by 1m portrait of music icon David Bowie, which was created using 4000 of its ForgeFast elite performance woodscrews, for sale at a silent charity auction held at the NMBS Gala Dinner.
The picture subsequently sold for £1000 with all proceeds being donated to CRASH – the construction industry charity which supports homeless and hospice charities with free advice, practical assistance and financial aid.
Now, the company aims to go one better with a new portrait of Carrie Fisher.
This time, the tribute to the recently deceased actress has been created using over 5000 ForgeFast screws. It features Carrie in perhaps the most famous role of her career – as the iconic Princess Leia from Star Wars.
The latest portrait is currently enjoying pride of place on the ForgeFix stand at the UK Construction Week (UKCW) exhibition 2017, which runs from October 10th to 12th. In the near future, the business will once again donate the portrait to NMBS so its sale can be used to raise funds for CRASH.
ForgeFix began creating the screw-based portraits of legends from the world of music, sport and film - which the business has dubbed ScrewsArt™ - as a unique and fun way of demonstrating the capabilities of its ForgeFast range.
ForgeFix has positioned its ForgeFast screws in a new and elite performance category due to their exceptional characteristics in a range of areas including corrosion resistance, fixing speed and ease, holding power, pull-out and more.
The Leia picture, and all of the ScrewsArt™ portraits, have been created with the help of existing and potential customers who attended the ForgeFast launch events last year and by visitors to ForgeFix’s stand at various trade shows and exhibitions
People have been offered the opportunity to insert screws into different templates to enable them to experience some of the benefits to ForgeFast first-hand.
Speaking of the Princess Leia ScrewsArt™ picture, Brian Trevaskiss, marketing manager at ForgeFix, said: “When the Bowie ScrewsArt™ picture was auctioned for charity earlier this year we were both surprised and delighted by the level of demand for the portrait and by the subsequent amount of money it helped to raise for CRASH.
“We decided to build on that achievement with our latest piece, depicting the much-loved Princess Leia. Given the popularity of Star Wars and the pending release of the latest film in the franchise, ‘The Last Jedi’, we’re hoping our newest creation will prove even more popular - and raise even more money.”
ForgeFix also created a second ScrewsArt™ picture for UKCW, which was of award-winning broadcaster, Steph McGovern.
The portrait was given to Steph as a gift whilst she was at the exhibition to present her regular and roving BBC One Breakfast slot.
She went on to praise the picture live on national TV."
